University Place, WA - The Golf Channel Amateur Tour began the season with the Pacific NW Preview. Hosted by Chambers Bay, host of the 2015 U.S. Open and 2010 U.S. Amateur, the season started with an exciting field of 57 players. It was a cold windy morning, but the rain held off for the players.
Palmer Flight (4.0-7.9) – Chad Sorenson of Portland, OR took the Champion title with an 85. Sorenson made a comeback from a tough front nine being in 4th place, but composed himself to shot a 40 on the back. We were thrilled to have Chad make the long drive up and compete in Seattle’s opening event. Sean Dill of Lake Tapps, WA and Joel Larson of Fircrest, WA finished tied in 2nd place with 87’s.
Senior Palmer Flight (4.0-7.9) – With a challenging front side, Jon Gunnison came out strong in the Senior Palmer flight making the turn in the lead. He was able to hold off his competitors and won with an 83. But it was a close flight, with David Wilsie of University Place, WA finishing in 2nd only 1 stroke back.
Hogan Flight (8.0-11.9) – Twelve Hogan players competed in an exciting match. It came down to consistent playing for Daniel Wiggins of University Place, WA to take home the trophy, firing an 82, low round of the day. Brian Wimer from Lake Stevens, WA made a charge on the back nine and came in second by one stroke with a steady 4 over par back nine. Raji Bharti of Bainbridge Island, WA made the turn in the lead, but wasn’t able to hold it, finishing in 3rd.

Darrin London of Puyallup, WA made the turn in the lead with a 42, but was unable to hold off the winner. With an impressive 39 on the back and low nine of the entire day, Eric Bennett of Tacoma, WA fired an 84 to take the lead. London was able to keep off the rest of the flight and finished in 2nd. Jim Howie of Lake Tapps, WA finished one shot behind London to take 3rd. Peter Hunt of Bellevue, WA and Ted Calico of Des Moines, WA finished tied for 4th place.
Jones Flight (16.0-19.9) – With Michael Olson of Covington, WA making the turn with a two shot lead, players had to make up some ground.
